There was quite a turn out to our project during this
years Parade of Homes. We would like to thank the Horn’s, again. We cannot say enough good about them as friends and clients. They were outstanding with everyone coming through. We would also like to thank all of those who made our first foray into the Parade a successful one. It has been a pleasure meeting new clientele and working with them on their future projects. Look for us to be parading another project in 2008.

COACH’S CORNERwith Dr. David Greisler
Advice is cheap … especially bad advice. To be effective in today’s market, we must replace misguided advice with better counsel and sharper thinking.
In the last issue of the Home Remedies newsletter, we began debunking eight flawed axioms drawn from the worst advice we have received across our years in business. Unlearning these misguided axioms will free you from ‘disinformation prisons’ …. and that will accelerate both your personal development and business advancement.
We began this series in the last issue of Home Remedies Quarterly Blurb by debunking the misguided piece of advice, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The point … “If it ain’t broke, make it better!” The market will applaud you.
In this issue we address another pithy phrase that floats around business, namely,
“Do more with less.”
The constant repetition of this mantra is an inverted replay of the ‘more with more’ disasters that characterized business in the 1970s and 1980s. In fact, ‘more with less’ has become dangerous in our age of cost-containment, reengineering, and global competition as it lets us avoid making tough choices. To cast off ‘more with less’ thinking,
- say ‘no’ to business situations that might be enticing but are outside your area of core competence;
- be an actively reflective practitioner that focuses on the ‘critical few’ strategic issues in your business, correspondingly jettisoning the relentless and unforgiving distractions of the ‘trivial many’;
- improve your internal processes by simplifying your business practices thus eliminating the organizational cancers of complexity and rework.
Regulatory scrutiny and the hyper-competitive pressures in the market cause us to reel in organizational slack. Superior leaders are biting the bullet and making strategic choices to ‘do less with less’ or to ‘do less with more.’ In so doing, organizations avoid the disasters arising from an oversupply of tasks and from the naïve assumption that all those tasks must be done.
A return to clear thinking, rich dialogue and enhanced positive personal discipline will help wither the ‘more with less’ vine that strangles us. The result will be a sustainable pace, improved efficiency and effectiveness ... and more joy in your vocation.

GREETINGS...
From the Home Remedies, Inc.
Newsletter for Fall 2007. We hope that your summer was joyful, and that everyone is anticipating the cool Autumn days ahead.
We have been experiencing some great changes here at Home Remedies, Inc. . We hope that this newsletter will bring you up-to-date with the latest things happening at our company.
Let's talk Bathroom Trends...
Today’s bathrooms are a sanctuary.
The place you go to rest, relax and revitalize. We live in a fast paced, “I need it now” society. There needs to be a place and time to stop and take a breath. Not everyone has time to get to the gym or the spa so they are bringing that experience to their own home by creating an “At Home Spa”.
A bath can be a wonderful tool to recharge, soaking, surrounded by warm water, or you may be in a jetted bath with water swirling around. Though baths are still on peoples wish list, and there are some beautiful units on the market, some concerns have created a shift in thinking. The time they need to fill, the amount of water used, whether the existing water heater is large enough, and the space needed to install when wanted separate from the shower. Baths have even been removed during remodeling to accommodate large, luxurious showers.
Showers have become the new means of revitalizing.
Shower sizes have elevated from the cramped one person to the open two person with a foot rest for shaving or the bench seat for steam units. Body sprays, hand held showers, and rain heads from the ceilings are accessories clients desire. People want the spa experience in their own home. Why wait for the bath when you can get instant gratification from the shower.
Tile is the medium of choice blended with solid surface materials like Corian, quartz or granites. Grout cleaning is not an issue with the advent of epoxy grouts. There is a world of tile choices so you need not fear trying something different. Large tiles, mosaics, stone or glass, think outside the box. The trend is for something unique to fit your personality. Glass is being used to keep an open feel, avoid the cave-like shower. Avoid the rattle and hum of outdated exhaust fans. Quiet fans enhance your relaxing experience.
Lighting is playing more of a role. Chromatherapy
is about color being a sensation and affecting a mood. Now you can bath or shower in a rainbow of colored light in water. Traditional lighting with dimmers can contribute to a comforting feel.
Furniture style vanities are one of the most prevalent trends in bathrooms today. With so many style options you are able to get a more personal feel without sacrificing storage and function. Storage has to be versatile and plentiful wherever possible. Keep the clutter off the counters by placing it behind closed doors and drawers. Design for the sexes with his and her vanity spaces; makes “getting ready” more efficient.
The bathroom is arguably the second most important room in any home.
With so many choices in material, fixtures, styles and accessories, it is smart to consult with a contractor who has experience in design and remodeling. Home Remedies, Inc. guides you through every project from design to completion. Get one step closer to your
